Capability Building is the process of developing the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required for people to perform effectively in a changing environment. It goes beyond one-off training and focuses on building long-term competence within teams and across the organisation. This can include structured training, coaching, mentoring, and hands-on experience.
The goal is to ensure that people are not only able to adopt a change, but also sustain and improve it over time. Without proper capability building, organisations often see short-term success followed by a return to old ways of working. Strong capability building creates confidence, improves performance, and enables organisations to adapt more easily to future change.
